A Dhaka court has set February 1 for the charge framing hearing against driver SM Darus Salam, in connection with a case filed over the murder of mountaineer Reshma Nahar Ratna in a hit-and-run incident near parliament on August 7 last year.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas fixed the new date as the counsel of the accused filed a time plea before the court on Monday.
Earlier on December 29, police submitted a charge sheet against SM Darus Salam in connection with the case filed over the murder of Reshma Nahar Ratna.
Earlier on August 30 last year, SM Darus Salam, who was the driver of a microbus that crushed Reshma Nahar Ratna to death in the capital city, gave his confessional statement before a Dhaka court.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari recorded the confessional statement on August 30, 2020.
Earlier, the investigation officer of the case and also the sub-inspector (SI) of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Mubarak Ali produced Darus Salam before the court. His confession was recorded by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari. He was sent to jail afterwards.
On August 7, Reshma Nahar Ratna, 34, a mountaineer and teacher of Ayub Ali Govt Primary School, was killed after a micro-bus hit her bicycle on Sher-e-Bangla Nagar lake road.
Doctors declared her dead after being taken to a hospital.
