‘Industry, academia collaboration crucial for nat’l dev’

Vice-chancellor (VC) of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) Prof Jahangir Alam said close collaboration between industry and academia can be the crucial means of attaining cherished development of the nation.

He said they are working relentlessly to strengthen the collaboration to boost employment generation and industrial production after the best use of skilled human resources.

VC Prof Alam made the observation while addressing a press conference at his office conference hall on Wednesday to mark the 1st Industry-Academia Collaboration Meet 2023 scheduled to be held at the RUET campus on Thursday.

He told the newsmen that around 150 industry owners or their executives are expected to join the meet from both home and abroad. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed by RUET and each of them related to strengthening collaboration and cooperation between them for mutual interests.

Under the MoU, RUET students will get scopes of carrying out their internship in each of their relevant industries for gaining practical knowledge.

Prof Jahangir Alam said universities, Industry and entrepreneurs are interrelated and they can play pioneering roles towards taking the country and the nation forward successfully.

He said they have given the utmost emphasis on generating skilled human resources as it is very important for building a smart Bangladesh envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He also said that Thursday’s meeting will play an important role towards improving bilateral relations between RUET and the country's well-established industries and entrepreneurs.

Civil Engineering Faculty Dean Prof Muhammad Kamruzzaman, Registrar Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, Research and Extension Director Prof Faruque Hossain and Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell Prof Imdadul Haque were present on the occasion.
