The government wants to keep inflation at 5.4 percent in the next financial year. The target was announced by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal while presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2020-21 in Parliament on Thursday.
The inflation rate was predicted at 5.5 percent in the last budget.
In his budget speech, the finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said, "We expect inflation to be 5.4 percent in the next financial year."
In FY 2019, the 12-month average inflation was recorded at 5.48 per cent, 0.08 percentage points lower than the government's 5.6 per cent target.
