The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has suspended all international flights to and from Bangladesh for a week from April 14, the first day of the upcoming lockdown in the context of a second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman confirmed the matter to The Business Post on Sunday evening.
He said that all types of passenger flights would remain suspended for seven days from April 14.
Further instructions will be given after the notification of lockdown is issued, he added.
However, cargo aircrafts, air ambulances, special and chartered flights can operate upon permission during the seven days of suspension, the CAAB chairman further said.
Earlier, all domestic flights were suspended after the government imposed a seven-day lockdown from April 5 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The CAAB earlier imposed a ban on passenger flights on both domestic and international routes in March 2020 after the coronavirus outbreak hit the country.
Later, the ban was extended several times.
