Integrated efforts indispensable to make GRS successful

Integrated efforts of all government and non-government organizations concerned can be the crucial means of making the Grievance Redress System (GRS) successful.

All the government offices and other line departments should keep GRS apps along with four other good-governance tools in their respective web portals so that the public in general and the service recipients as a whole can derive total benefits of those legitimately.

Government officials and others concerned made the observation while addressing a sensitization meeting with stakeholders related to GRS here today.

Commissioner office of Rajshahi division organised the meeting at its conference hall discussing and devising ways and means on how to redress the grievance being faced by the people.

With Additional Commissioner Jashim Uddin Haider in the chair, the meeting was addressed by Chief Executive Officer of Rajshahi Development Authority Abu Hayat Rahmat Ullah, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Saifuddin Shahin and Superintendent of Police Monirul Islam.

Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat, Deputy Director of Local Government Shahana Akhter Jahan, Regional Manager of Transparency International Bangladesh Monirul Islam and local unit president of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh Anjuman Ara Parveen also spoke on the occasion.

Jashim Uddin Haider attributed that the role of GRS is very important in making administrators accountable to citizens, improving the quality of services and strengthening good governance.

At the government level, GRS is a governance related management process that helps ensure better public service for citizens.

It allows citizens to lodge grievances through the GRS APP and it's an effective tool to address citizen complaints, taking a step forward towards achieving SDG 16.

Additional Commissioner Jashim Haider said utmost collaborative partnership between government and non-government organizations can be the best way of creating massive awareness on grievance redress facilities available in the region.

Expressing his gratitude to the government for the introduction of the GRS, he viewed that when the people will know about the benefits of the tool the number of complaints will be enhanced to a greater extent undoubtedly.

Ensuring good governance in service deliveries in both public and private sectors can be the crucial means of building 'Smart Bangladesh' envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

 Simultaneously, good behaviour, honesty, timeliness, discipline, transparency and accountability in all the service delivery points are the prime needs of ensuring good governance.
