The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has decided to resume international commercial flights from Saturday on special conditions.
However, restrictions will remain for countries currently considered high-risk.
CAAB issued a circular regarding the decision on Friday.
Passengers arriving from high-risk countries have to be in a mandatory institutional quarantine, while passengers arriving from other countries must go through a 14-day home quarantine, the circular said.
As an exception, passengers arriving from Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait will follow the current 3-day institutional quarantine despite being on the list of high-risk countries. Another 11 days will be considered for home quarantine based on subsequent health examination results.
CAAB suspended all international flights from April 14 as the government imposed a strict lockdown from that day to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The huge surge in Covid cases prompted the government to go for a lockdown from early April. Having failed to achieve the intended result, it imposed a complete lockdown from April 11 and extended it to April 28.
On April 28, the government issued a circular extending the lockdown till May 5, as there was no improvement in the Covid-19 situation.
