Internet connection was restored in parts of the country on Tuesday evening. Netizens were seen expressing relief following the restoration of the internet access, which was on shutdown since Thursday evening.

Earlier in the day, State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak had told reporters that the internet would be restored on a trial basis by Tuesday night.

“Taking the urgency of the banking sector, diplomatic zone, RMG industry, import-export and outsourcing sector into consideration, the internet service is going to be restored,” he said.

People of the country were cut off from the rest of the world on Thursday evening after violent clashes, which spiralled out from the students’ quota reform movement, erupted across the country.
