A new report by VPN provider Surfshark has revealed that Bangladeshis are overpaying for the internet.

Internet costs are 6.9 times higher in Bangladesh than elsewhere in the globe, according to the report.

The VPN provider has recently released the “2022 Global Internet Value Index (IVi)” which is a list that ranks countries based on how much its people are overpaying for the internet.

Globally Bangladesh ranks 83rd and subregionally (Southern Asia), ranks 3rd in the list.

The country has an index of 0.0105, which is 85.59 per cent lower than the global average, meaning Bangladeshis are overpaying for the internet they get.

The neighbour country India ranks 44th in the list and subregionally ranks 1st.

In Asia, 4 out of 10 people can access the internet at a fair price.

Every country in Southern and Central Asia overpays for their internet connections since they all have an internet value index lower than the regional average.
