Plying of intra-city public buses is set to resume from Thursday in Dhaka and all other districts of the country with half the capacity, maintaining social distancing.
Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association said they are making preparations to operate public buses in districts again from Thursday morning in line with the government decision to allow public buses after May 5.
The government had suspended plying of inter-district bus service till May 16, aiming at curtailing people’s movement from one district to another.
Bangladesh Road Transport Owners’ Association also laid out some instructions urging the passengers not to board on buses without masks, bus owners to provide masks to transport workers, drivers and helpers to keep half of the total seats vacant which mean only one passenger will occupy two seats and no standing passengers will be allowed.
Train and launch services will remain closed until further notice.
Cabinet division on Wednesday issued a gazette notification extending the ongoing restriction till May, 16 aiming to restrict the spread of coronavirus.
