Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mansour Chavoshi said his country will support Bangladesh in the safe and dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to their homeland Myanmar.

The Iranian Ambassador expressed his country’s stance when he called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban on Tuesday.

PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting, saying that the Ambassador lauded Bangladesh for sheltering Rohingya refugees on humanitarian grounds.

They discussed possible avenues for strengthening bilateral relations and boosting trade between the two countries.

The prime minister said that both countries have much potential for expanding and diversifying bilateral trade.

“The two sides may work on trade facilitation measures,” she said.

Referring to the sanctions and counter-sanctions due to the Russia-Ukraine war, the prime minister said the people of the whole world are suffering from this war.

Ambassador-at-Large Mohammad Ziauddin and Principal Secretary Ahmad Kaikaus were present at the meeting.
