Suspended Dhaka South City Corporation Councillor Irfan Salim, also a son of the lawmaker for Dhaka-7 constituency Haji Salim, was released on bail from Keraniganj central jail on Wednesday.
Confirming the matter, Irfan’s lawyer Sri Pran Nath, said Irafn went to Azimpur graveyard to pray for his mother after he was released around 4:00pm.
Irfan, who was greeted by his supporters with garland at jail gate, then took ifter with his family members in their Chawkbazar home.
Navy Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan filed a case on October 26 against Irfan and his associates for assaulting him at a Dhaka crossing.
He was also made accused in two cases filed by Rapid Action Battalion for illegal possession of walkie-talkies and consumption of liquor.
Irfan secured bail in all cases, which paved the way for his release.
