Ishwardi records season’s highest temperature

The highest temperature in the country this year was recorded at 43 degrees Celsius on Monday in Pabna’s Ishwardi.

Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Weather Office, said Ishwardi saw the highest temperature at 43 degrees Celsius this season, which set a record.

Earlier, the weather observatory centre recorded 42 degrees Celsius in Pabna on April 15, 2022.

Besides, Bangladesh Metrological Department (BMD) has predicted rains and thundershowers at one or two places in Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in 24 hours from 9am on Monday.

“Weather may remain dry with a partly cloudy sky over the country, having chances of rain or thundershowers at one or two places over Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions,” said a Met office bulletin.

A severe heatwave is sweeping over the Khulna division and Dhaka, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Manikganj, Narayanganj, Rajshahi and Pabna districts.

A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping elsewhere over the country and it may continue.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

A trough of low lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas. Seasonal low lies over South Bay.

Meanwhile, the residents of Ishwardi upazila are experiencing the hottest day in this year, causing immense suffering to the people.

People preferred to remain at home.

Besides, the people of the district are experiencing load shedding which also added woes to the residents of Pabna ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Moin Uddin, a rickshaw puller said “It is too difficult to drive a rickshaw but I have to go outside.  I can’t sit idle.”

Abu Bakkar Siddique, a resident of Radhanagar in the district town, said, “Temperature is too high, and frequent load shedding has added woes as we have been experiencing 10-12 hours of load shedding.”
