A vested quarter of individuals or groups – faking the identity of Bangladesh Army personnel – are conducting drives at government, corporate offices, family residences, shopping malls, and shops in civilian clothes, and attempting to extort money through phone calls.
A press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday pointed out that the Bangladesh Army does not conduct such operations in plain clothes without the presence of law enforcement agencies such as the Police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The release urged the public to be aware of such deceptions, and sought their cooperation for the improvement of the overall law and order situation across the country.
