Jabbar for digitalising post offices

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar has stressed the need for digitalising post offices at a discussion on Thursday evening.

"Post offices must be digitalised in digital Bangladesh. Postal officials must acquire minimum digital skills within a specified timeframe," he said.

Bangladesh Postal Employees' Union arranged the discussion at GPO auditorium, marking the golden jubilee of the country's independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a handout said on Friday.

Speaking as the chief guest, Jabbar instructed the authorities concerned to accelerate the implementation of the initiatives taken for building digital post offices, including training for its employees and officials.

Highlighting the achievements of Bangladesh in its 50 years of independence, he said: "Bangladesh will be a poverty-free country by 2031 and the 24th most strong economic power in the world by 2036 and a developed one by 2041."

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has set an example before the world today, Jabbar said.

Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Khalilur Rahman and Director General of the Directorate of Posts Siraz Uddin were among others who spoke at the discussion.
