JAMUKA to revoke Ziaur Rahman’s ‘Bir Uttam’ title

The Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (JAMUKA) has decided to revoke the ‘Bir Uttam’ title of late BNP founder and wartime sector commander Ziaur Rahman.

The decision came from the 72nd meeting of JAMUKA, said one of its member, former shipping minister Shajahan Khan.

The gazette regarding conferment of the title to Zia will also be cancelled, he confirmed.

JAMUKA has also decided to remove the state-awarded titles for self-proclaimed Bangabandhu killers Shariful Haque Dalim, Noor Chowdhury, M Rashed Chowdhury and Mosleh Uddin.

Ziaur Rahman was earlier stripped off Swadhinata Padak or Independence Award.
