Jamuna Group chairman diagnosed with Covid-19

Md Nurul Islam Babul, chairman of Jamuna Group, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection.

Babul confirmed the matter himself, adding that he is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital (former Apollo Hospital) in the capital and that his health condition is improving.

Babul said he was admitted to the hospital on Monday after his test results had come out positive the day before.

Babul's wife Salma Islam, also a Jatiya Party MP, is still healthy, confirmed a Jamuna Group official.

The Jamuna Group is among the largest industrial conglomerates in Bangladesh. The industries under this group include leather, textiles, chemicals, motorcycles, consumer goods, media, and advertisement. Bangla newspaper the Daily Jugantor and Jamuna Television are also under the ownership of this conglomerate.
