Atikullah Khan Masud, Editor and Publisher of the daily Janakantha, passed away early Monday at a hospital in Dhaka at the age of 71.
Janakantha staff reporter Monowar Hossain confirmed the matter to the Business Post, saying Atikullah Khan Masud had been suffering from respiratory problems for long.
Atikullah began to experience severe breathing difficulties around 5:30 on Monday morning. He was immediately rushed to Evercare Hospital in the capital where doctors pronounced him brought dead, added Monowar Hossain.
The veteran journalist left his wife, two sons and grandchildren and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
The daily Janakantha was founded in 1993 by Atikullah Khan Masud. He was the newspaper's editor, printer and publisher. It was the first newspaper to be printed from several locations across the country at the same time.
