Japan envoy seeks more economic collaboration with Bangladesh

A seminar on "Economic Collaboration between Bangladesh and Japan: Public and Private Sector Investment" was held on Wednesday.

The seminar was organized jointly by Dhaka Branch Council (DBC), Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) and Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) held at ICMAB in the capital.

Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, ITO Naoki and JICA Chief, HAYAKAWA Yuho were present as chief guest and special guest respectively at the program, said a press release.

Chief Representative of JETRO, Yuji Ando, President of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) AKM Delwer Hussain, President of ICMAB, Abu Bakar Siddique, Treasurer of ICMAB AKM Kamruzzaman, Chairman of DBC, Bakhtiar Alam, President of JBCCI, Asif A. Chowdhury, and Secretary General of JBCCI, Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan were also present at the program.

The release said the discussants gave emphasis on economic prospects, increasing flow of Japanese investment and FDI in Bangladesh and the role of CMAs to ensure efficiency of Japanese investment in Bangladesh.

They also highlighted the importance of joint collaboration between ICMAB and JBCCI, Japanese companies and policymakers for improving the business environment of Bangladesh and creating more opportunities for engaging CMAs in the value addition activities of Japanese companies.

Vice Chairman of DBC, Dr Syed A Mamun moderated the program.
