The ongoing session of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad resumed at 3:00 pm on Wednesday with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Jatiya Sangsad went into session after a 59-day recess as its previous session was prorogued on September 16 last after only seven sitting amid the Covid- 19 pendemic situation.
Earlier on October 17, President Md Abdul Hamid summoned the 15th session of the current parliament, exercising the power bestowed upon him as per Article 72 (1) of the Constitution.
The President will deliver the speech in Parliament today during a special discussion on the occasion of 50 years of the country’s Independence. The Cabinet already approved the speech.
As part of the yearlong celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the country’s Independence, the special discussion will be held on Wednesday and Thursday next.
