Untimely rain caused by a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal caused waterlogging in various locations across Dhaka on Monday morning.

Following light drizzle throughout Sunday and moderate rain from Monday morning, a number of busy thoroughfares including Mirpur and Green Road were submerged, causing commuters to wade through ankle deep waters.

The deep depression is causing rain throughout Bangladesh and India. Met Office forecast said the rain would persist on Monday throughout the country. The weather would start to clear up from Tuesday onwards and temperature may also plunge.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as the deep depression over northwest Bay and adjoining west-central Bay appeared to be weakening, a met release said.

Dhaka’s air quality showed an improvement on Monday morning with the capital city ranking 40th worst in the Air Quality Index (AQI) due to rains triggered by the depression in the Bay of Bengal.
