Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader Aman Ulla Aman from the Mohakhali bus stand area on Monday evening for his suspected involvement in police constable Amirul killing.

Aman Ulla Aman is joint general secretary of JCD and also former member secretary of JCD Dhaka University unit.

Briefing reporters at the DMP media centre on Tuesday noon, Additional Commissioner of the DMP and also chief of the CTTC unit Mohammad Asaduzzaman said there was an instruction from the BNP high command to attack police.

CTTC chief Asad said that the attackers including Amanullah Aman had ordered in advance to create chaos and then attack on police to break the morale of the police and if necessary kill them.

During primary interrogation, arrested JCD leader Aman revealed that Aman along with his followers took position beside the stage at Nayapaltan during the October 28 grand rally at the instructions of the central leaders of BNP and JCD.

In the meantime, a clash erupted when BNP activists resorted to an attack on police in the Kakrail area, he said.

Taking this advantage, Aman started to march forward along Victory Hotel lane next to the BNP party office with a large number of JCD men to attack police after getting an order from BNP and Chhatra Dal high command, the CTTC chief said.

A large number of policemen were stationed at the DR Tower on the east side of Box Culvert Road and surrounding establishments. Then Aman's followers continued to throw bricks and stones at the policemen, he said.

At that time, police constable Amirul Islam Parvez fell down on the road after being hit by a brick and he was brutally hit with a stick, he added. “Amirul lost consciousness and the body was lying on the road but the protesters continued to brutally beat him. After confirming the death, they left the scene,” the CTTC chief added.
