JCI Munshiganj hosts Autism Awareness Seminar

JCI Munshiganj has successfully hosted an autism awareness workshop titled “Nurturing Special Minds.”

This event – organised on Friday at Faith Bangladesh Training Hall in the city’s Lalmatia area – was specifically designed for parents of children with autism, providing them with valuable insights and practical guidance from renowned experts in the field, read a press release.

Farhana Makhnun Saba, 2024 President of JCI Munshiganj emphasised the importance of creating awareness about autism.

The seminar featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Dr Helal Uddin (psychiatrist and associate professor of child, adolescent, and family psychiatry), Dr Abdun Noor Tushar, (doctor and CEO of Gati Media & Vision Associates), Chanda Mahjabeen(media personality and mental health counselor), Nilufer Ahmed Karim (Executive Director of Faith Bangladesh).

The speakers addressed various aspects of autistic children's behavior, treatment approaches, best family practices, social rights, and counseling for parents. The event saw an attendance of around 100 parents, teachers, doctors, and trainers.

Farhana Makhnun Saba concluded the seminar by reiterating JCI Munshiganj’s commitment to extending such support in the future, ensuring continued assistance and advocacy for families with autistic children.
