The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Railways on Thursday suggested cultivating food grains on Bangladesh Railway's uncultivated lands across the country for food security as per the prime minister's instruction.

The parliamentary watchdog made the suggestion at its 24th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee Chairman ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury in the chair, said a press release.

Since Bangladesh Railway submitted a report to the Standing Committee regarding the slowness of different development works due to the negligence of contractors, the Standing Committee gave instructions for taking appropriate steps and completing the development activities on time.
