JS body for scrutiny of State Acquisition and Tenancy Bill

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Land on Thursday decided to place the State Acquisition and Tenancy (Amendment) Bill, 2023' in parliament after scrutinizing it, saying that the amendment will help in the swift settlement of land-related cases.

The parliamentary watchdog made the decision at its 16th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee Chairman Md Mokbul Hossain in the chair.

The committee suggested the ministry modernize the land management system in hilly areas.

It also recommended ensuring the rights of people by recovering the water bodies from usurpers and bringing them under justice after identifying them.

Besides, the JS body also recommended appointing at least one lawyer in each district on behalf of the government to handle land-related cases.

The committee thanked the ministry for making the digital land management and registration process effective across the country.

The committee comprised of Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Manoranjan Shill Gopal, Md Anwarul Azim (Anar), Nesar Ahmed, Umme Fatema Nazma Begum and Mu Ziaur Rahman who attended the meeting.
