JS panel for relocating Rajbari DC Office seeks list of 518 archaeological sites

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Cultural Affairs on Sunday recommended the ministry to take necessary steps for relocating the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Rajbari for preserving the structure of a Natmandir and the area adjacent to the building as archaeological sites.

The committee also recommended the ministry to prepare a complete list of 518 protected archaeological sites and present it at the next meeting.

The parliamentary watchdog came up with the aforesaid recommendation at its 20th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Simeen Hussain (Rimi) in the chair, a press release said.

Committee members – State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, Kazi Keramat Ali, Ashim Kumar Ukil, Suborna Mustafa and Salina Islam attended the meeting.

They also informed the meeting that necessary plans have been made to implement site-maintenance and repair-activities of 18 archaeological sites under the revenue budget for the financial year 2021-2022.
