The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday recommended adequate storage of the short-term variety of Aman seeds, as it takes lesser time to harvest, for increasing production of Aman.

The committee made this recommendation at its 18th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with the committee chairperson Matia Chowdhury in the chair, said a parliament secretariat press release.

The committee also asked the agriculture ministry to continue research activities for developing varieties of maize that require less water.

They also recommended to the ministry take appropriate steps to ensure the establishment of farmer service centres at the union level across the country like pilot projects.

Committee members Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak, Imaz Uddin Pramanik, Moslem Uddin, Anwarul Abedin Khan and Hosne Ara were present in the meeting.
