JS panel seeks study on public transports’ fuel use

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Thursday asked the ministry to conduct a study on the usage of fuel on public transports.

The panel also discussed the state of system loss in the Rural Electrification Board and what is to be done to reduce the system loss, said a parliament secretariat release.

Moreover, it discussed the policy on purchasing electricity from private power plants and also sought a report on challenges to set up subsoil power distribution lines.

Issues of super critical and ultra-super critical power, installation of prepaid meters, and power generation from biomass were discussed as well in the 20th meeting of the parliamentary watchdog.

With committee Chairman Wasika Ayesha Khan in the chair, the meeting was attended by State minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and committee members — M Abu Jahir SM Zaglul Haider, M Aslam Hossain Sawdagar, Khaleda Khanam and Nargis Rahman.
