Arifuzzaman Uzzal of the Daily Ittefaq and Emran Hossain Himu of the Daily Manabzamin were elected president and general secretary of Jahangirnagar University Journalists' Association (JUJA) for the next year.
Chief Election Commissioner Prof Laek Sazzad Andallah announced the election result around 12:15 pm. Assistant Election Commissioner Associate Prof Md Yousuf Harun and Muhammad Rezaul Rakib were present, among others, during the announcement.
The other elected office bearers are vice President Shahadat Hossain of Daily New Age, joint secretary Mahbub Sarder of jagonews24.com, treasurer Mehedi Mamun of Daily Bonik Barta and office and publication secretary Md Nasir Uddin Sikdar of Manabkantha.
The three elected executive members are Al-Amin Hossain Rubel of Channel I Online, Abdul Mannan of Protidiner Bangladesh and Md Bayijid Hassan Rakib of Daily Inqilab.
Earlier, JU Vice Chancellor Prof Md Nurul Alam, JU Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq, Treasurer Prof Rasheda Akhtar, Registrar (Contractual) Rahima Kaneez, leaders of Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA), teachers of different departments, representatives of different social, political and cultural organizations visited the election center during the polling.
