Former cabinet secretary Kabir Bin Anwar officially joins Bangladesh Awami League (AL).

Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Shakhawat Moon confirmed the matter on Wednesday.

Kabir bin Anwar joined the AL by giving a bouquet to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Ganabhaban. Bangabandhu's younger daughter Sheikh Rehana was also present.

Kabir Bin Anwar is a retired Bangladeshi government official who served as the 23rd cabinet secretary. Prior to this, he served as senior secretary of the ministry of water resources. He served as cabinet secretary for 19 days.

Kabir bin Anwar is the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Centre for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS). He was the president of the Bangladesh Administrative Service Association.

Kabir bin Anwar was born in Sirajganj. He joined the BCS administration cadre in the 1985 batch.

Throughout his career, Anwar received Public Administration medal three times and the Bangabandhu Digital Award twice.

In his student life, he served as the elected president of Dhaka University's Fazlul Haque Hall Chhatra League. Both his parents were freedom fighters.
