Kabori laid to eternal rest

Veteran actress and former lawmaker for Narayanganj-4, Sarah Begum Kabori, has been laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard in Dhaka.

She was buried following her namaz-e-janaza after Johr prayers on Saturday.

Before burial, Kabori was given a guard of honour in front of the graveyard.

Apart from Kabori's family members and political colleagues, President of the Film Directors' Association Sohanur Rahman Sohan, former president Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, President of the Artists' Association Misha Saudagar and General Secretary Zayed Khan took part in the janaza.

Kabori died in Dhaka early Saturday after ending her battle against COVID-19 infection. She was 70.

She breathed her last at 12:20 am while being on life support at Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute & Hospital in Mohakhali.

Kabori started her acting career by appearing in Subhash Dutta directed film Sutorang in 1964.

She took home the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in Sareng Bou (1978).

In 2006, she made her debut as a filmmaker by directing the film Ayna. Her latest project titled Ei Tumi Shei Tumi was in the making.
