A Dhaka court has fixed April 7 for submission of a probe report against the lone accused, Iftekhar Fardin Dihan, in a case filed over the rape and murder of an 'O' level student of Mastermind School in Dhaka's Kalabagan area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Begum Yeasmin Ara postponed the date of submission of the report as the investigation officer in the case, AFM Asaduzzaman, was unable to submit the report on Sunday (March 21).
Earlier on March 2, a Dhaka court fixed March 21 for submission of the probe report against Dihan.
On January 13, a Dhaka court permitted police to conduct a drug test on Dihan in the case.
On January 9, law enforcers released three other youths after interrogation over the matter. The victim was 'sexually assaulted' and 'killed' on January 7 in Kalabagan.
Police arrested her alleged boyfriend Dihan and three of his friends.
The victim had gone to a friend’s house in Kalabagan for group study, family sources said.
Her father filed a case against Dihan on January 7, accusing him of sexually assaulting and then murdering her at his family flat in Kalabagan.
Later, Dihan gave a confessional statement before the court.
Meanwhile, doctors performing the autopsy on the victim found evidence of rape.
After completing the autopsy, Dr Sohail Mahmud, head of the forensic department at Dhaka Medical College, said she died due to excessive bleeding in her vaginal and anal areas.
Samples were also collected for DNA profiling and to determine whether any anaesthetic drug was administered to her.
