A Kathmandu-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight made an emergency landing in India’s Patna airport due to a technical snag on Friday afternoon.
“The Kathmandu-bound Boeing 738 aircraft, with 77 passengers on board made an emergency landing at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport on Friday after pilot reported technical problems, a senior official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) at Patna told news agency Press Trust of India (PTI).
“The aircraft, operating as BBC371 from Dhaka landed at 12:01pm and departed at 4pm after aircraft engineers attended to the fault. All the 77 passengers on board were safe,” the official said.
The Biman aircraft had developed a problem with its left-wing flaps, a second official said.
Two fire tenders of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) were kept ready at the pre-determined position, about 70 metres from the runway, to tackle any exigency as the aircraft made a full emergency landing at Patna.
