Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday gave sample for COVID-19 test.
A representative of Labaid Hospital collected the sample at her Gulshan home at around 3:00 pm.
They also collected samples for some other tests including diabetes.
One of Khaleda's personal physicians Abdullah Al Mamun was present at that time. He told journalists that samples were collected from the former prime minister as part of regular health examinations.
Khaleda Zia was sent to jail on February 8, 2017, after being sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment by a special court in Dhaka in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
She was released from jail on March 25, 2020, after the government suspended her jail sentence for six months. Later, her bail period was extended for another six months.
On March 15 this year, the government again extended the suspension of the prison term of Khaleda Zia for six more months in two corruption cases, following a plea of her family citing her health conditions.
