The physical condition of ailing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, currently undergoing treatment at Evercare hospital, is stable, her personal physician FM Siddique said at a press conference on Friday.
Briefing the journalists at the Evercare hospital, Siddique said “Her physical condition remains unchanged and the medical board will make a decision about taking her abroad for better treatment if the government permits.”
Earlier on May, 5 Shamim Eskander, younger brother of Khaleda met home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and handed over an application to him seeking approval from the government to take her abroad for better treatment.
After receiving the letter, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government would consider the matter positively.
Law minister Anisul Huq on Thursday told the BBC Bangla that the government would decide on the application of her brother to let her go abroad for better treatment as soon as possible.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday urged the government to allow her to go abroad for advanced treatment on humanitarian ground.
Khaleda was admitted to the Evercare hospital on April 27 night for diagnosis after being tested positive for Covid-19.
She was tested Covid positive on April 11.
