COVID-19 infected Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia has been taken to Evercare Hospital from her Gulshan residence on Thursday.
She will undergo a CT (computed tomography) scanning there, said her personal physicians.
FM Siddiqui, one of Khaleda Zia’s personal physicians, told journalists that the CT scan would be conducted as a part of precautions as the party chief has entered second week of coronavirus infection.
She is stable despite having COVID-19 infection, added Siddiqui.
Khaleda Zia's test report for the novel coronavirus came out positive on April 11.
The BNP chairperson was sent to jail on February 8, 2017, after being sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment by a special court in Dhaka in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
She was released from jail on March 25, 2020, after the government suspended her jail sentence for six months. Later, her bail period was extended for another six months.
On March 15 this year, the government again extended the suspension of the prison term of Khaleda Zia for six more months in two corruption cases, following a plea of her family citing her health conditions.
