Kurigram man gets death penalty for killing wife

A Kurigram court on Tuesday sentenced a man to death as he killed his pregnant wife for dowry at Bhurungamari upazila in 2011.
 
Kurigram District and Sessions Judges Court Judge Abdul Mannan awarded the verdict.
 
The lone convict in the case, Rasel Babu, has been on the run.
 
Advocate Abraham Linkan stood for the state while Advocate Fakhrul Islam represented the convict.
 
According to the case statement, the victim was there at her parent's house in Pathardubi village of Bhurungamari upazila following a brawl with Rasel over dowry in 2011.
 
Later, Babu went to his in-laws house where he strangulated his wife to death when the victim was alone at the house on May 27, 2011.
