Launch services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route have been suspended due to inclement weather and strong currents prevailing in the Padma River.
There is no possibility of resuming the service before morning, said ghat authorities on Friday night.
Thousands of homebound people are in trouble due to the suspension. However, 20 ferries from five ghats are still plying on the route.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast nor'wester storm over several districts in the north and south of the country, including some districts of Dhaka division, on Friday night.
According to meteorologists, the storm could pass through Meherpur, Rajbari, Faridpur, Madaripur, Manikganj, Dhaka and Narsingdi districts towards the Indian state of Tripura.
