Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said that if evidences prove anyone’s involvement with the death of a college student in a flat in Dhaka’s posh Gulshan area, they would certainly face trial and law would take its own course.
"Everything will go as per the law. Whoever is the culprit, would have to face trial. The matter is under investigation. We’d be able to make any comment only after investigation,” said Asaduzzman at his official residence responding to a question about the government’s role in the case of “abetting suicide” filed against Bashundhara Group managing director Sayem Sobhan Anvir.
Body of a young girl was found in a flat in road number 120 in Gulshan on Monday night.
The victim’s sister Nusrat Jahan filed a case with Gulshan police under section 306 of the Bangladesh Penal Code early Tuesday accusing Sayem Sobhan Anvir of inciting the victim to commit suicide.
Nusrat said that the victim called her on Sunday and confided her fear of being "in trouble". Nusrat Jahan headed for Dhaka from Cumilla on the next day and reached her sister's flat in the evening.
As there was no response from her sister, Nusrat managed to enter the flat with the help of the flat owner and found her sister's hanging body and called in the police.
Asked about the cases against the Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh leaders, the home minister said that the cases were proceeding as per the law.
Responding to another question, Asaduzzman also said that a case was filed against Junayed Babunagari in 2013 and he was also detained at that time. He refused to make any comment without knowing about the case’s latest status. “He was released on bail, that's all we know,” he said.
Asaduzzaman said, “All the cases will be dealt with according to the law. None is above the law. Action would be taken against anyone who indulges in any crime.”
