Suspended sub-inspector Liaqat Ali, who is one of the key accused in Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case, has been taken to a Cox's Bazar court on Sunday to record his confessional statement.

Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Tamanna Farah is to record his confessional statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

On 28 August, a Cox’s Bazar court placed three police members, including former Teknaf Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das, on 3-day remand each over the killing of Major (retd) Sinha after Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) produced the trio before the court with a 4-day remand plea.

Earlier on 24 August, the court granted a 4-day remand of seven police members in the case after RAB produced them before the court with a 7-day remand plea.

Sinha was killed in police firing on Cox's Bazar Marine Drive on July 31.
