Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over the country and one or two places over parts of it with moderately heavy falls at places over the country.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country," said a met office releases for the next 24 hours till 6am Friday.

A low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay and adjoining area. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, a centre of the low and thence northeastwards to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh a moderate elsewhere over the North Bay.

Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Pabna and Bogura and it may continue.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the weather forecast begins at 9am Friday.

Country's maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 36.8 degrees celsius in Sylhet district and today's minimum temperature of 24.4 degrees celsius was recorded at Bandarban district.

Country's maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded at 42 millimetres (MM) at Badalgachi in Naogaon district.

The sun sets at 6.30pm Friday and rises at 5.35am Saturday in the capital.
