Lightning strikes killed 10 people and injured three others in four districts of the country on Sunday.
In Sunamganj, at least six people, including three teenagers, were killed and two others injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes.
The incidents occurred in Chhatak, Dowarabazar and Tahirpur upazilas between 10am and 11am amidst heavy rain.
The people died while they were harvesting Boro paddy in different haor areas, police said.
The deceased are Mahim Mia, 13, of Debergaon village, Arash Ali, 60, and Abdus Samad, 45, of Borokapon village in Chhatak; Milon Mia, 14, and Tara Mia, 32, residents of Erukhai village in Dowarabazar; and Ramzan Ali, 15, of Kukurkandi village in Tahirpur upazila.
The injured are Mukit Mia of Tahirpur and Nizam Uddin of Dowarabazar.
Sunamganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Ehsan Shah confirmed the news of casualties.
In Moulvibazar, two people were killed as thunderbolts struck them in two upazilas.
The deceased are Riaz Uddin, 22, of Lalbagh village in Srimangal, and Shom Shobdokor, 42, of Uttar Tilakpur village in Kamalganj.
Srimangal police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahangir Sardar and Kamalganj police station OC Sanjay Debnath confirmed the news of deaths.
In Netrokona, a man was killed and his younger brother got injured by a lightning strike while they were harvesting paddy at a cropfield in Durgapur upazila.
The incident took place at Bandaushan village around 9:30am, said Durgapur police station Inspector (Investigation) Mohammad Nurul Alam.
The deceased is Rabikul Hasan, 30, and the injured is Habullah Hasan, 25, both sons of Abdul Kuddus of the village.
In Sylhet, a man was killed by a lightning strike in Balaganj upazila.
The deceased is Ansar Ali, a resident of Mohammad village, confirmed Balaganj police station OC Ramaprashad Chakroborty.
