The coronavirus pandemic has brought about in general an insipidness in our life. The constant dread of the disease and how serious its intensity can be in terms of sufferings and fatality have made all of us change our way of life in sheer desperation. For people like us who are in an advanced stage of their life are the most vulnerable.
The ample time that we now have cannot be utilized in socializing nor can we go out to public places for recreation of the mind. Every sensible person has become too conscious in observing the guidelines of coronavirus and thus shun mingling with even friends and family members outside their own.
The TV which is a popular source of in-house entertainment, the subject of coronavirus is largely dominated on hourly basis in each and every channel giving a constant warning of the havoc the disease might befall us if its safety measures are not adhered to.
The desperate attempt for opening to new normal way of life is now cautiously being tried in some European countries and elsewhere by vigorously administering vaccines to as many people as possible in the shortest period of time as the vaccines have proved remarkably efficacious in containing the pandemic.
The economic consequences since the outbreak have been disastrous both in short and long terms perspectives. Every country is really in hornet’s nest and the world precisely, the WHO before long has thoughtfully realized and recommended that it has to be eradicated on a global basis and containing it like pockets of population on individual country basis will not at all be effective. Consequently, the poor countries are also to be brought under vaccination programme to keep the disease at bay and the world at large, safe. The G7 countries very recently have committed a substantial amount in terms of vaccine supply to help the poor countries of the world to simultaneously take up the vaccine programmes quickly on board with the affluent countries.
Here in Bangladesh, the Government have dealt with the pandemic quite effectively and what the hands of providence on the remarkable immunity of our hard-working poor people is indeed a blessing that can be attributed as simply wonderful to marvel at when people by and large are least bothered to wear mask. Though there has been a little disruption in the rollout of the vaccines but the Government’s prudent and timelier measures in arranging a few other vaccines in the pipeline are commendable.
I being always an optimist infer that from end August this year unlike what the specialists say that the intensity will flare up with the Delta variant around from neighbouring India as its advent continues to suffuse though in small numbers due to very effective checks put in the border districts.
Bangladesh on the contrary, will be able to contain the pandemic in a meaningful way, given the immunity our people so far have already demonstrated, coupled with the on-going rollout of the vaccines incline me to firmly believe that normal life by the grace of Almighty Allah will soon blossom.
One must bear in mind that the pandemic will not completely disappear from the world at least for some decades. It will from time to time sporadically reappear in pockets of population here and there like other viruses but with our new gained experience and knowledge, we will surely be able to contain this virus much more effectively in a short period of time.
