The local government department has given special grants of Tk 1,300 to each of the 46,000 village policemen (Dafadars and Mahalladars) employed in 4,569 Union Parishads of Bangladesh.
A press release, issued by the local government department on Monday, said, the authorities concerned will withdraw the sanctioned money for each district from the revised budget allocation for the fiscal year 2019-20.
The press release has been sent to the Deputy Commissioners. They will withdraw the money allocated in their favor from the treasury and pay it directly to each village police Tk. 1300 per head.
The grant was given as an incentive as the village police played a special role in dealing with the current coronavirus situation.
The project will cost the local government department Tk 6 crore in total.
