Lieutenant General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has been appointed as the new Chief of Army Staff for a three-year term.
Inter Service Public Relation Directorate Director Lt Col Abdullah Ibn Zaid confirmed The Business Post about the development on Thursday afternoon.
In a circular, the Ministry of Defence said Shafiuddin’s appointment will be effective from June 24.
Lt Gen Shafiuddin, currently serving as the Quartermaster General of Bangladesh Army, will be promoted to the rank of General, said the circular.
He will replace Gen Aziz Ahmed.
