The government on Saturday (July 18) appointed M Shaheen Iqbal chief of Bangladesh Navy after promoting him to the rank of vice-admiral from rear-admiral.
The Ministry of Defence issued a gazette notification in this regard, saying he has been appointed for the next three years.
He will take up the position on July 25, it added.
