The government has appointed Maj Gen Shakil Ahmed as the director general of the Border Guard Bangladesh.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette in this regard on Thursday.
The appointment will come into effect immediately, it added.
Maj Gen Shakil will replace Maj Gen Md Shafeenul Islam, who joined as the DG of the border force on March 28, 2018.
Maj Gen Shakil also served as the DG of the Department of Immigration and Passports.
