A Cox’s Bazar court on Thursday placed three people, including Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das and Inspector Liakat, on a seven-day remand in connection with the killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan in Teknaf.
Md Helal Uddin, judicial magistrate of Cox’s Bazar, passed the order when members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) produced the accused before his court with remand plea.
Plaintiff’s lawyer Md Mustafa said the court put the three on a seven-day remand while the rest will be interrogated at the jail gate.
All nine accused were produced before the court around 5pm and Judge Md Helal initially ordered to imprison them. Later, the court heard a remand plea by Rab and granted investigators seven days to interrogate the suspects.
Earlier on Wednesday night, arrest warrants were issued against Pradip Kumar, Baharchhara Check-post In-Charge Liyakat among nine policemen over the incident.
Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous filed a case at the Judicial Magistrate court on Wednesday. Pradip Kumar Saha was withdrawn to the police lines over the killing on the same day.
Inspector of Baharchhara Police Investigation Centre Liyakat Ali and Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Prodip Kumar Das were made first and second accused in the case respectively.
Other accused are - policemen Nando Dulal Rakkhit, Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, Md Abdullah Al Mamun, Liton Miah, Tutul, and Md Mustafa.
OC Pradeep surrendered on Thursday noon and later police took him to Cox’s Bazar.
