The Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Haznah Md Hashim on Wednesday conveyed the country’s interest to set up a branch campus of UCSI University in Bangladesh.

The envoy made the disclosure during a courtesy meeting with University Grants Commission (UGC) acting chairman Professor Dil Afroza Begum at the commission’s office, said a press release.

“UCSI University is one of the best private universities in Malaysia,” Haznah Md Hashim said, adding that the university ranked 284th place in the latest QS World Rankings, and is a reputed university for engineering and science education.

“The university is offering quality higher education at low cost. As a neighbouring country, the Malaysian government is keen to set up a branch campus of the university in Bangladesh,” she added.

Prof Afroza Begum chaired the meeting while UGC Director IMCT Mohammad Makshudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Secretary Ferdous Zaman, and member Prof Biswajit Chande were also present there.
