An accused in a murder case of a trader in Dhaka's Pallabi was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion.
The deceased, identified as Manik, was the No. 5 accused in the case filed over the murder of trader Shahinuddin.
The incident took place at the Eastern Housing area of Pallbi on Friday during a raid by a RAB team to arrest Manik.
Mozammel Haque, commanding officer of RAB-4, has confirmed the matter.
On May 16, 34-year-old Shahinuddin was hacked to death in front of his six-year-old son Mashrafe at Road 32 of Pallabi section 12.
Aklima Begum, the mother of the deceased, filed a murder case with Pallabi police station accusing 20 people, with Manik as one of the main suspects.
Shahinuddin was killed over the perpetrators’ attempts to forcibly occupy 20 acres of land in Pallabi’s Alinagar area, she claimed.
