Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested Mohsin Talukdar, who threatened to kill all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan on a Facebook live video, from Sylhet.

Mohsin, 25, was arrested around 11am Tuesday in a drive conducted by a joint team of RAB-9 and police in Maigon of South Sunamganj, Sylhet, after RAB received a tip-off about his location.

RAB-9 ASP AKM Kamruzzaman and Sunamganj RAB Company Commander Faisal Ahmed confirmed the matter to the media.

On Monday, Sub-Inspector Mahbub Morshed filed a case under the Digital Security Act against Mohsin for issuing a death threat to Shakib.

According to the case statement, Mohsin appeared on a Facebook live where he showed a machete and threatened to chop Shakib into pieces.

The man threatened to kill Shakib Al Hasan on a Facebook live video uploaded on Sunday for inaugurating a puja mandap in India's Kolkata on Thursday.

He was seen brandishing a sharp weapon, threatening Shakib for hurting religious sentiments by inaugurating a puja mandap.

However, the same account went live again Monday early morning and apologised for being rude.

But he also added that he still stood by his original claims of Shakib hurting religious sentiments and demanded an apology from the ace all-rounder.

Later on Monday, Shakib Al Hasan apologised for the misunderstanding by uploading a video on his official youtube channel.

Shakib said, "Nobody is perfect, so if I have mistakenly hurt anyone’s feeling, I apologise."

"I did not inaugurate any mandap at Kolkata, rather I have attended another program near that place. It would be very clear if anyone just checks the invitation list of the puja inauguration ceremony," he said.
